The research standards set by UII go beyond national research standards. UII is a university that breathes Islam so that all activities related to research policies are aligned with Islamic values, including the field of research. Table 1. shows the scope of national research standards and research standards set by UII.

The Ministry of Research and Technology/BRIN has classified research at UII into independent clusters. As a result, the UII research budget allocation of 60% is directed according to the topic of the UII Research and Community Service Strategic Plan (Renstra PPM) 2016-2020 and 40% is carried out on topics outside the Strategic Plan. UII’s leading research topics are determined by the UII Directorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM), which include seven (7) topics:
1. Development of Islamic Quality of Life Improvement Model
2. A Justice-Based Anti-Human Crime State Administration System
3. Development of Entrepreneurial-Based Creative Economy Industry and Global Competitive Ethics

7. Development of Essential Oils and Phytopharmaceuticals for Health Improvement.
The achievement of research standards set by UII is carried out by DPPM through the implementation of research funding, while DPA provides facilitation of scientific publications as well as publication and patent incentives. Complete information about the DPPM program can be accessed through the page: https://dppm.uii.ac.id/index.php/penelitian/, and the DPA program through the page: https://dpa.uii.ac.id/. Each lecturer is required to compile a documented research roadmap at the department level. Planning for the implementation of research by each PSMK lecturer is carried out through the preparation of Employee Performance Targets (SKP) for one year implementation. The process of monitoring and reporting the implementation of lecturer research is carried out every semester through the Lecturer Performance Expenses (BKD) report which is assessed by internal and external assessors. In addition, at the department level, research outcomes are monitored through AMI. Research output documentation can be accessed through the page: https://karya.uii.ac.id/. Lecturer research performance is also monitored through Employee Work Behavior Assessment (PPKP) in one year of performance.
