Higher education standards in the field of community service (PkM) are listed in MERCY OF GOD with the initials C (Community Services). In order to achieve higher education standards in the field of community service, UII is currently accelerating itself to become a Research University where PkM plays an important role as a medium for implementing and supporting research that is being, has been, or will be carried out at the university. Through PkM, the public can feel the contribution of UII’s research. To achieve the expected achievements, as stated in the Master Plan for Development of UII 2008-2038, especially in the context of fulfilling the Research and Community Service (PPM) agenda and ensuring continuity and maintaining the excellence of PPM activities, UII has prepared a strategic plan in the field of PPM in the context of accelerating UII towards Research University, namely UII’s Strategic Research and Community Service Plan (PPM Strategic Plan) for the Period 2016 to 2020. This 5-year Strategic Plan was formed based on UII’s Vision and Mission, history of development and achievements, role of the management work unit, potential resources , and capacity building. The 2016-2020 PkM UII Strategic Plan is a guideline and policy direction for the implementation of community service that has been outlined by UII. The preparation of the UII community service strategic plan is based on five main aspects, namely the vision and mission of UII, history of development and achievements, the role of the management work unit, potential resources, and capacity development. UII’s Community Service Strategic Plan is oriented towards Improving the Life of Civil and Sustainable Society (baldatun thoyibatun wa-robbun ghofur) which is in line with the noble ideals of the founders of UII. The focus of its development is contained in 7 road maps of leading areas as mentioned in LED C7. The implementation of Research and Community Service (PPM) activities at UII is coordinated by the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM). To carry out the PPM UII Strategic Plan, the UII DPPM facilitates lecturers by involving students as assistants to carry out community service. The community service grant program organized by DPPM has been running every year with a choice of schemes:
1. Mono Discipline Partner Village Service
2. Multi-Discipline Partner Village Service
3. National Collaborative Service
4. Partner Institutional Service
5. Partner Excellence Oriented Community Service
6. Outcome Oriented Community Service
Each scheme of the program has a different outcome. Information regarding the schedule, criteria/requirements for grant applicants and other information can be accessed via the links https://dppm.uii.ac.id/ and https://simppm.uii.ac.id/ The community service activities at UII are flexible (incidental and scheduled) in their implementation. Types of community service are generally carried out based on scientific fields in each study program. In addition, the offer of cooperation from outside parties was used by the UII DPPM to serve as a partner village, a place for seeding and diffusion of science and technology. Therefore, to ensure the effectiveness of the implementation of PkM apart from being under the supervision of the DPPM, PkM activities are also routinely managed by the departments according to the field of study at UII as part of the UPPS (Faculty). So broadly speaking, PkM funding at UII for lecturers comes from the DPPM, other institutions and from the Department’s RKAT. In addition to managing these PkM schemes, DPPM also has the authority to carry out PkM monitoring and reporting activities carried out by UII community members. PkM monitoring is carried out routinely if the implementation of PkM is under the supervision of the department, then the monitoring of activities is directly supervised by the head of the department through preparation, implementation and evaluation meetings. Similarly, in terms of reporting, DPPM is in control of supervising PkM reporting at the university level, while the Department oversees reporting on PkM under its coordination. In the development of community service that has been achieved, UII has succeeded in occupying the first position among Private Universities (PTS) in Indonesia based on the results of the performance assessment of PkM Universities for the 2016-2018 period. The results of the community service performance assessment are contained in the Decree of the Director General of Research and Development Strengthening Number 29/E/KPT/2019 dated 27 September 2019 concerning Ranking of Higher Education based on Community Service Performance for the 2016-2018 period. UII received the title of superior cluster PT in the field of community service in the ranking.
